What's your opinion?

TOPIC 1
Do You Eat Cafeteria Food?

Some school cafeterias are striving to offer students better lunch options in terms of both nutrition and taste. What is served in your school lunchroom?

Are the options attractive to you?

Do you usually eat cafeteria food or bring lunch from home? Why?

If you could advise your school cafeteria on what changes should be made to its offerings, what would you suggest?

TOPIC 2
Are You Hard or Easy on Yourself?

According to new research, going easy on yourself — or having “self-compassion” — may be healthier for you. Are you hard or easy on yourself?

Are you judgmental about your own flaws and inadequacies, berating yourself for not exercising more or getting better grades?

Do you treat yourself as well as you treat your loved ones? Why or why not?

  1. I look forward to reading you comments on either or both of the topics above.

As for the packed lunch, I have just started to pack my own lunch. This means that I now have to get out of bed at 5.30am to pack it, but it's well worth it. My fad at the moment is salmon and avocado on brown bread. I am not sure what I will be making next week. If I eat at lunch-time it means that I do not eat too much chocolate later in the day.

I wonder what you eat for lunch and if you also snack on something sweet during the day!

    Do You Eat Cafeteria Food?
    Yes

Some school cafeterias are striving to offer students better lunch options in terms of both nutrition and taste. What is served in your school lunchroom?
We have different food everyday, but usually we have fried rice and fried noodle, and we have vegetables and meat everyday.

Are the options attractive to you?
Not very attractive, because I think the food doesn't look very delicious.

Do you usually eat cafeteria food or bring lunch from home? Why?
I usually bring food from my house, but sometimes my mom is too tired and I will eat the cafeteria food.

If you could advise your school cafeteria on what changes should be made to its offerings, what would you suggest?
I think the food should be cheaper, and sometimes the food doesn't taste good. So I think they can change some menus and decrease the price.

  3. I agree that the food that cafeteria sells is more healthier and nutritious food, and sometimes is tastes nicer as well, but food in the school are just too expensive. I started to buy food when I first started here (Grade 7). Before you know everything else you should know I am a professional badminton player, in other words I practice badminton everyday, and consistently join competitions. I cannot live with just a plate of rice with chicken; I have to eat 2 plates to get my energy back. So you know I am a big eater, with expensive and delicious food, I spent 300 000 rupiah in less than 1 week. For me is enormously expensive, from that day on words I start bringing my lunch everyday.

The food in cafeterias are attractive, here are some of the things: Chicken Porridge, Carrot Soup, Pancake, Omelet, Popcorn, all of these are all delicious, but some times I just have to stop my self from buying food because I ran out of my pocket money. I suggest that they should reduce the price.

I will suggest to have more type of food, example we can have some korean food or japans food or chinese food.

Are the options attractive to you?
    Sometimes.

Do you usually eat cafeteria food or bring lunch from home? Why?
I often eat at cafetaria, because my mom/me/my maid doesn't have enough time to prepare for the food everyday.

If you could advise your school cafeteria on what changes should be made to its offerings, what would you suggest?
    half the price lol

  7. Personally I prefer bring lunch from home because my mom makes me nutritious food and it's healthier than the food in a cafeteria. If my mom is busy, she gives me money to buy something in the cafeteria. Sometimes the options are attractive to me esp. western cuisine because my mom I can't make western food. If I could advise my school cafeteria I would suggest them to sell more variaties of food and it should be delicious, healthy and cheap. ^o^

  8. Yes i do eat cafeteria food in my school, but i'm not often to eat it. My school cafeteria serves much enough food, from appetizer, main course until dessert. Example: some snacks and bread for appetizer, then spaghetti, fried rice, rice, vegetables, and some meat for the main course, then jelly and fruits for the dessert. The menu is very good, healthy and delicious but its not that delicious, sometimes its attractive me because it have much enough options. But i'd rather eat my own food, the reason why is because i think its more delicious and its accordance with what i want. My suggestions for my school cafeteria are maybe they can serve more foods, because everyday its always be the same food. There's always be spaghetti, fried rice, etc. I think the school cafeteria should be serves much more menu, like maybe there's about 3 traditional food from some countries per day.

  9. I don't really like eating the cafeteria foods. It's not about the options or the taste of the foods, but I think bringing my own food from home to school is more healthier. Once,in my previous school I got sick from eating food from the cafeteria. But the food here seems healthy and delicious. The food here should have been cheaper since a lot of students have to buy it everyday. Even though I don't usually eat the cafeteria foods, I think it's good that they sell different types of food. For example, breads, cakes, rice, noodles, western food, Japanese food, Indonesian food and many more so we can have different types of food every single day.

Usually, I bring lunch from home because I have no one to cook for me at home.

If you could advise your school cafeteria on what changes should be made to its offerings, what would you suggest?

I suggest them to change the menu every week and make it more tasty. Keep the food hot not cold. And the last thing that I would suggest is to lower down the price.

  11. The food options at cafeteria are not very much attractive and tasty, counting the overpriced meals, and lacks of portion. Although I always buy foods from the school cafeteria, since it is more simple and practical, rather than keeping my maid busy preparing for my meals. I suggest it would be better to improve the cafeteria's foods by decrease the price, improve the foods' quality, and bigger portion.
